Sugar Land Salutes America
June 30th, 2008 categories: Off Beat, Sugar Land

Barbecues, baseball, beaches and, of course, fireworks … such are the mainstays of July 4th for many! Really, who among us doesn’t eagerly anticipate the annual holiday celebrating our nation’s independence?
Picnics, parks, swimming and sparklers aside, though, sometimes it’s just a tad too easy to forget the actual meaning behind the parades; sometimes, in our anticipation of this (well deserved!) weekend, we forget the esteemed forefathers without whom our liberties would remain a reality.
City of Sugar Land officials want to ensure we always remember.
This year, Sugar Land’s 23rd annual Red, White, and Blue Fest will commemorate the anniversary of America’s declaration of independence from Great Britain. Held in the heart of the city in beautiful Oyster Creek Park, the evening celebration will feature live entertainment, contests, and, of course, fireworks … tons and tons of fireworks!
So take a short break from the barbecue this year and head out south of Houston! Join this staunchly patriotic celebration in Sugar Land … one of America’s most staunchly patriotic cities!
