THE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION RANKS NO. 2 IN THE WORLD

Cynthia Woods Mitchell PavillionTHE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION RANKS NO. 2 IN THE WORLD FOR CONCERT TICKET SALES

According to the July 21, 2008, edition of Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (photo by Ted Washington) ranked #2 in its listing of top 50 amphitheatres in the world based on the number of tickets sold during the first six months of 2008.  The Pavilion’s ticket sales totaled 112,080 for shows played between January 1 and June 30, 2008.
So far this season, The Pavilion has had five sold-out concerts (15,000+), including Jimmy Buffett April 21, Buzzfest XXI April 26, Kanye West May 2, Roger Waters May 4 and Radiohead May 17.  Other concerts with attendance over 10,000 include the Police May 20 and Iron Maiden May 22.
“We have had an incredible year so far in 2008. The quality and variety of shows we have presented has been fantastic,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion.  “I attribute the strong showing to the vibrant Houston market and our booking partnership with Live Nation. Our facility is a wonderful way to experience concerts and our location is one of the keys to our success.”

Market report for The Woodlands for June 2008

Market report for The Woodlands for June 2008

The Woodlands real estate market is performing beautifully right now… the absorption rate is a rocketing 3.2 months!!! This is formidable when one considers the backdrop against which this is occurring… national price drops, sub-prime chaos, oil-price shocks and extreme stock-market volatility. Sellers are also achieving very good prices relative to asking price… a less than 3% difference which is a very full price in most situations. The slight blemish is the days on market (DOM)… it would have been really nice if that number is a little lower… waiting around 80 days to sell a home is a little longer than one would expect in a market with such a fast absorption rate.

Woodlands opens latest swimming pool - The Rob Fleming Aquatic Center (includes directions)

Rob Fleming Aquatic Center

THE NEW ROB FLEMING AQUATIC CENTER - WOODLANDS 13th POOL.

The 13th and newest aquatic facility in The Woodlands, Rob Fleming Aquatic Center, is now open in the Village of Creekside Park. This fabulous amenity opened to the public on June 28th, with a two-story flume slide for tubing, 500-foot long “Lazy River”; and aquatic play structure with 150-gallon dump bucket (all pictured). Check it out on Splash Day and the entire 4th of July weekend!

At 12 noon on July 4th, THE GREAT RED, WHITE & BLUE DUCK RACE, a benefit for the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance and The Woodlands/South Montgomery County Kiwanis Club, will take place at Rob Fleming Aquatic Center. To adopt a duck or for more information, visit www.mcea-tx.org.

Rob Fleming Aquatic Center Aerial ViewThe “lazy river” is really cool!!! They give you big tubes to ride on and you just slowly cruise around and around taking in the scenery and the people. My son and I shared a double-tube … it was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommended for the whole family. They sell ice-creams, sodas and I think they also have Chick-Fil-e.

I’ve you’ve visited this park, let us know what you thought about it… it’s useful information for other site visitors!! Thanks so much.

Woodlands Real Estate Market Report for May 2008

Woodlands Real Estate Market Report for May 2008

Woodlands Real Estate Market Report - May 2008

Homes sold very well in The Woodlands during the month of May. The number of “SOLD” homes reached 152 - still quite a bit less than last year’s May 2007 - 215 homes were sold then. But, the average price per square foot then was a touch under $120 and now we’re at $126….

But, the important number to note is the absorption rate… it’s at 4 months. Anything less than 6 months is supposed to point to a seller’s market. I think we have a bit of both though… I think buyers can get good deals and sellers can sell in a reasonable timeframe.
